New Starters

The New Starters module showcases employees who are about to join the organization, using data from the Cosmos employee database. It displays upcoming hires directly on Confluence pages, helping teams stay informed and supporting a smoother onboarding experience. The widget is easy to set up and can be customized to fit specific team needs.

New Starters module is available only when the Cosmos app is installed, active, and properly configured.

Insert New Starters

Follow these steps to insert a New Starters module to your Confluence page:

  1. Open the page you want to edit, or create a new one.

  2. In edit mode, click the ‘+' icon in the toolbar or press '/' on your keyboard to open the module menu.

  3. Type "New Starters" or "Optics" in the search bar and select "New Starters (by Optics)" or "Optics" from the list to open a configuration dialogue.

  4. In the configuration dialog, choose a New Starters template and customize it using the live preview. The available customization options depend on the template you choose.

  5. Once you're happy with the setup, click Add to page to insert the module. To cancel, simply click Cancel, and the module won’t be added.

Start with templates

Creating People start with choosing a template: Card, and List. Each one is crafted by our design experts to help you build outstanding, consistent content in Confluence. We’re continuously adding new templates to keep your employees overview fresh and visually engaging.

Layout

The Layout tab defines how pages is presented, offering options to control how all items appear within the module. Available options may vary depending on the selected template.

Display Options

In the Display section, there is an option to configure pagination. Available pagination types include Show MorePrevious/Next, and None. The Per Page setting is available for all templates.

Styling

Styling options include corner radius and label color. Available styling options are defined in the Optics Style Guide to maintain consistency across all formatting modules.

Content

The Content tab defines which people appear in the module using the Cosmos Collections picker. If no collection is selected, all users with a start date up to 7 days in the past and any date in the future will be displayed.
